About this place
Tucked along a lane in Mukojima, ADAGIO CAFE is a relaxed spot for tea and a varied selection of handmade food. The shelves and display case offer plenty to choose from: a moist, warmly spiced carrot cake, rich gateau au chocolat and a Basque cheesecake available in limited quantities, among other treats. The choice can vary with the day’s mood. Other thoughtful options include Eton mess topped with seasonal fruit, homemade cashew-and-soy-milk ice cream made without eggs or dairy, and wholemeal scones.
Hand-drip coffee and a choice of meals
Drinks include hand-drip coffee made with a choice of the café’s blend or Kenyan beans, alongside café lattes, homemade chai and matcha lattes. For a more substantial meal, the menu includes creamy pancetta and mushroom pasta, Pugliese with small shrimp and anchovy, and a chicken salad plate served with a baguette and soup—options that can make for a filling lunch. Small plates such as ajillo and anchovy potatoes, along with Hoegaarden White and wine, also make the café an option for a light drink towards evening.
A welcoming stop for visitors with dogs
One distinctive feature is that dogs can accompany their owners indoors, and there are dedicated menu items for them, including horse meat, chicken tenderloin jerky and sweet potato sticks. Whether taking a break during a walk in Sumida Park, settling in for a quiet solo reading session, or taking homemade granola or coffee beans to go, ADAGIO CAFE fits easily into different daily routines.
